![]() ![]() I tried to 100% on my playthrough as it was great fun. Some of the side-quests are repetitive but it probably gets down to how much you enjoy that physics engine. The ball golf physics are great, but the controls could be further explained (I only found the map zoom-out near the end of the game). The "puzzles" are fetch quests at best and the rest of the game is a basic physic engine with poorly explained, horribly designed controls. I've literally never heard or seen this suggestion before. It's insane to me that so many people say it's LttP with golf - no! Disc Golf Valley on mobile is still the way to go for that fix. That said, disc golf is a fairly minor inclusion, so perhaps it's a case of mistaken expectations. I found the disc golf controls to be okay, but not how I'd have implemented them. I can see that being a mild disappointment. I bought the game when I saw it had disc golf because I thought that would be really fun, but 1) you can't play a round when you want and 2) even if you could, the controls are so bizarre that I wouldn't want to. By the end of the game I was able to hit the ball just about anywhere I wanted with ease, including long putts, chip-ins and slam dunks. I found the ball golf controls to be excellent. I know it's been said before, but it's unbearably frustrating to time your shot perfectly and then it get nowhere near the place you were aiming. Maybe your own failure at adapting to the game made it a more miserable experience for you.Ĩ0% of the game is playing golf of some sort and they failed miserably with the controls. But maybe in this case it's not the games fault, as many people love it very much, and it's been out for a long time. Other than the save issue you seem to be having, which I can't confirm or deny as I don't have the game in front of me at the moment, it seems to me you're just ranting about a game that you didn't like. So whoever says that, idk, maybe they're insane.īut that doesn't change the fact that Golf Story is nowhere near the chaotic experience that you describe. Two very different games that have nothing in common besides the fact that they're games and top down 2D. I would not go as far as to compare it to lttp, because I don't see a resemblance at all. I personally think it works rather well for what it's supposed to accomplish. Of course there's a certain amount of skill and proper judgement involved so I'm not saying I never failed a shot or never made mistakes. The story and humor is obviously something that doesn't appeal to everyone, but I never had an issue with getting the ball to go where I wanted. TBH I don't know what you're on about, I found the game fairly straightforward and not too difficult. So if you're a fan of games like these, take it from me: DON'T BUY GOLF STORY!Īs far as I'm aware, there's no where to leave Switch exclusive reviews, so I wanted to share this for all the future people out there thinking of getting this annoying AF game. Indies like Blossom's Tale and Anodyne help fill the gaps in between. I bought the Switch for games like LttP, LA, and BotW. This has been my frustration with several indie games: instead of creating complex, stimulating challenges, they just up the difficulty to 11 and hope you get your money's worth playing the same segment on repeat for a few days. I'm stuck failing over and over and over again. I can't practice the course on my own time. It autosaved here and now there's nothing I can do but continue to fail over and over and over and over again. I could have gotten past this and written it off as a cheap, chill game.until I got to the championship. It's insane to me that so many people say it's LttP with golf - no! The "puzzles" are fetch quests at best and the rest of the game is a basic physic engine with poorly explained, horribly designed controls. So yes, you have a decent, self-aware plot, but you have NOTHING that makes LttP so great. Yes, the story is good and I'm a fan of top-down LttP style games, but did they not test the game with users?Ĩ0% of the game is playing golf of some sort and they failed miserably with the controls. ![]()
